I own a Hiku hiku004 scanner (sold in France as “Izy” by Chronodrive). Hiku Labs no longer exists, and its mail server rejects messages (rob at hiku dot us returns “554 5.7.1 Relay access denied”).
The hiku_fw README ( GitHub - hikuinc/hiku_fw: This repository is for the hiku device embedded software on the Electric Imp module. · GitHub ) invites owners to request an unlock, and in this thread Hiku’s founder agreed to unblessing Hiku devices: Reuse Imps from Production products that have gone out of business
