Electric Imp and Budweiser Red Light

Can you just use a dvr and pause then start delay the video 5-10 seconds?

Ya, great idea.

Ok … After 1 hour of following Budweiser’s instructions I have managed to make the connection to my light. Ignore the instructions in the booklet where it says “insert the Imp card after which it should blink red then green. Once green the card is connected to your Wifi network”. This is bunk.

When I inserted the Imp card all it did was blink orange for about 30 seconds then off completely and never got connected nor turned red or green. Including after following their instructions of turning the light off, removing and re-inserting the card then turning the light back on !!

What I had to do to get the Imp card connected then my phone connected and the light working was,

(1) insert the imp card and while it was blinking orange
(2) at step 3 of 4, where it says “Connect Light” in the app, select “Ready” and put the phone up to the light on the Imp card. BUT I had to do this while the card WAS BLINKING ORANGE
(3) then the app does its flashing and connecting to the Imp card and light
(4) then the app does its test of the connection of the phone to the light and Budweiser’s servers and the light on the Imp card flashed green a couple of time then solid green permanently.
(4) Now the app’s TEST LIGHT function works and the light is fully functional

Hope this helps
Thanks

Thats correct. If the imp isn’t blinking then it isn’t listening.

Ian555, whats your imp’s mac address?

I followed the instructions in the Budweiser booklet, as well as rcote01 above… no luck… my imp continues to only blink orange then off completely!!.. could the card be faulty??

No, if the card is blinking then it’s very unlikely to be faulty.

As above, what phone are you using (if it’s a samsung, turn off power save modes), ensure you hold the screen of your phone flat up against the back of the card (not against the red light test button as the instructions advise), and don’t do this in a very brightly lit area.

Orange means it never got a successful blinkup, so your issue is getting the credentials to the light.

I could not get my card to activate with my I phone 4, called support and was told that there is sometimes a problem activating with this phone,. Borrowed my daughters I Pad and it connected right away

Interesting. Was it with the latest version of the iOS app? The iPhone 4 with iOS7 did slow down quite a lot, but we recently released an update which improved performance in our tests.

Edit: ah. This was with the red light app, which I don’t believe has been updated.

Hello,

Wondering if any one would be able to shed some insight on a problem I am having with my red light. After trying to pair my red light with my iPhone 4S (running iOS 7.0.4) and going through the blinking process, the IMP LED turns solid red and I get a message saying something about a server request. I’ve tried turning the light on and off and re-inserting the IMP but it just quickly blinks red, then a quick amber, followed by a quick green blink before returning to a solid red.

The MAC address of my IMP is 0c2a690218c5

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance

Looks like it’s trying to upgrade, but I’ve never heard of a device going solid red in this scenario. Could you try it on another wifi network just in case?

HI,
I just received the red light , unable to get it working on my wifi network…
using an apple ipad 2 with version 7.0, netgear router a,b,g,n …the router is on automatic channel selection…only goes up to channel 12…tried flashing the card with maximum brightness on ipad several times, even in the dark…imp light flashes red, odd time I see green come on momentarily during flash process, but then just keeps flashing red until it goes into power saving mode…tried flashing with the router open, no luck, have never seen the imp card flash other then red…never seen orange…I have spent over two hours trying this…never have I had anything so difficult to connect to my wifi…Help…

If the router uses channel 12, then the imp will not find it. Set the router to use a channel in the range 1-11, check the SSID/password spelling and case, and try again?

yes, I did that, router has an auto channel selection but will only go up to channel eleven…still nothing
