Any commercial design will have to go through unintentional emitter testing (ie, without the radio on) - so you can’t escape going to a lab. This applies to using imp001 too.
Generally, you should ask them about whether you can use our modular approval for your product. In broad terms, if you only have one transmitter in your product, don’t modify the antenna, the product isn’t hand-held, and note that you use our module (by FCC ID) on the outside of the product then you’re ok.

On the hand-held exception, do you feel that would apply as well to wireless sensor nodes ? In principle, they also stay fixed once installed, but they are independently powered (in our case we’re experimenting with energy harvesting techniques to allow battery/mains independence (hence the ability to completely seal them).
Hand-held devices are devices that will normally be used whilst hand-held or close to the body (eg: tablet, phone, laptop). I could hug my wifi router, but it’s still not classified as hand-held because the normal use case is >20cm from a human 
A wireless sensor node is usually used >20cm away from a person, hence you’re ok there and would very likely be able to use modular approval for FCC/IC. Note that CE doesn’t really have a concept of modular approval (well, it sort of does but the wording it subject to interpretation). Check with your lab for that. The imp001 and 002 (on an amber breakout) pass all FCC/IC/CE/C-tick standards, but other host systems can alter behavior.
@Hugo: Hi I am looking for the IMP002 module and What I understand from the conversation about the stepper curve is that I have to make my own PCB with IMP002 according to my own requirement but if the development kit of this solder down module is present in the market than what is the advantage of using this module rather than development board?

With an imp002 and a breakout board, you get 12 IOs (vs 6 IOs for the imp & april combo)
With an imp002 alone you can’t do anything if you don’t make your own board (or buy a breakout).
