Has anyone connected to a Profinet system?

I have been working on a new application that requires monitoring of existing factory equipment using and imp005 (Same as the Fieldbus Gateway)

Most (if not all) of the factory equipment already has Profinet as the standard communication protocol from the Siemens control units. These control units already contain most of the information I want however we currently only have the older Modbus protocol lib available to communicate with them.

Has anyone connected to a Profinet device? If so what lib. did you use?

Thanks

Some years ago we use UART and Anybus module. Anybus is expensive.
Profinet datasheets and information about protocols etc. isn’t no free. It’s worths to buy if you plan to go to mass production.
As far as I know - Siemens don’t share info as well as Anybus don’t. But you can order to them what you want.

Thanks Peter.
I have been looking at a Modbus to Profinet communicator instead. Modbus is common in older systems therefore its a cheaper unit and the imp005 supports this protocol.
