Diferent use to BlinkUp sensor

Can I use the BlinkUp sensor to “measure” pulses from a meter that has a LED that lights for every consumed Wh?
My objective is to plot time/energy
The meter is analog so this would be the cheapest way to acquire that data.

Thanks

I think you could, but you need to shield it carefully from any other external light. An LED isn’t too bright, so maybe you can make some sort of fiber optic light pipe that places the LED pulse directly into the imp location where the blink-up LED is.

msleim is probably right. Counting pulses is something I’ve looked at and I favoured a small micro to do it with a dedicated phototransistor pickup. Meter LEDs are not particularly bright and a typical pickup needs to be right on top of it.
