Can I use Status LED for other purpose?

Hi,
Can I use Status LED for displaying other status as well??
basically is there a way to access Status LEDs?

I have previously seen this question answered with a firm “no”. The led is deliberately not addressable through the api so that program behaviour does not cause confusion with the status display.
